TITLE: THE NEGATIVE THINKER

THIS PIECE IS A 30" X 40".

How do I explain this one. Hmm, okay the first layer was yellow with some figures and the pack of cigarettes. Painted over everything twice, once yellow and then brown. Finally I painted over everything in black except the cigarettes.

It stayed that way for months. Then one day...and here is the "hmm" part. A girlfriend and I finished, uh, well you can guess. Afterwards, I immediately jumped up and added the thinking figure and proclaimed "this painting is the negative thinker". Needless to say we didn't last too long as a couple. The painting however, survives.

This isn't an anti-smoking statement even though I don't smoke and never have. I just like the pop-ness of the cigarettes mixed with the thinking character.
